I am nearing the point where I will apply color to the 72 BS GS.

I will keep the original Seamist green.

Is there an online place best to purchase from? Or should I go to the nearest PPG dealer?

Not sure yet about single stage or base/clear. Any suggestions or recommendations for a nice looking driver street strip machine?

I will be spraying on my garage. Targeting 2nd week august.

PPG store no single stage for metallic, asking for trouble there ha

Omni base and Shopline 630 clear would be a good economical approach, Omni base is about the only PPG line that has formulas for the old colors, it sprays and lays down nice, the 630 Shopline clear is a very nice clear sprays and buffs up awesome

    Thanks Hugger

Any thought on a tip size for laying down the color? EASTWOOD concourse HVLP gun.

That fine metallic will be fine with a 1.2 base and 1.3 for clear

My Iwata has a 1.3 and it's a good comprise I just adjust psi , distance and speed to whatever the base wants.

If you are going to a PPG supply. Buy their Nexa brand. I've used this paint for 30 yrs. It's very professional. Because that color has high volume of Mettallic. Go with
High Temp thinner. To give the Aluminum time to level off. That paint use to be ICI.
Used in England Canada and Australia. Market share was Hugh. Very user friendly.
Very high Quality. Also a color like that needs a light sealer or back ground. Like Hugger said. Iwata 1.3 with that light color is best choice. Car will not "Zebra stripe"
But Iwata likes when you GO slow. Back and forth. No fast motion with your arm.

I'm having trouble sourcing the right color paint
Regardless of the colorcode brand etc. No one seems able to confidently say "yes I can do that". They're finding Browns coppers etc but no Seamist or gulf green.

Best I've found thus far is a Napa that will scan the underside of my trunk lid and mix to match it in Sherwin Williams.

Uughh I DESPISE Sherwin Williams, sounds like your PPG store is inept, I can call my store Monday and email you the formula, then you can just give it to your knuckleheads to mix

All the ppg stores around are not automotive.

I'm calling auto body and paint shops to no avail.

    The search continues...

I found a place in Bridgeport CT that uses DuPont. Its an Auto Paint Supply store.

They found the Dupont Gulf green and say they can mix it in their Nason/Axalta line. 1 gallon paint, reducer, Clear and activator for about $440

any thoughts on this line of paint? I understand its meant to be a less expensive line of paint, their words.

EDIT: found another place that can mix it in BASF / Glasurit.....any thoughts on these brands?

The Nason "Ful-Base" is a decent product, no real issues with it

Glasruit is top shelf stuff just pricey
