Where is the Vin # ?

    Where is the vehicle vin # stamped on the Gran Sport 65-66 ST 300? I have scraped all kinds of crud off the trans, but do not see any vin #s. I found the information on the sevo cover, but it only tells me the date code and that it is a GS transmission. I want to see if this is a #s matching trans.

    Hi Cheryl,
    I don't know if this helps, but the '66 shop manual has a small diagram on p.00-5 that shows a plate with serial number on the pass side above the rear of the pan on the 400. The 300 in the diagram doesn't show the plate, but if it's the same, should be just above, or under the modulator. I found no other references for a serial number plate for the automatics. Dan
