Where does this hose go?

    Hey everybody,
I am hoping that somebody can help me. Whilst disconnecting several items to do some cosmetic work on the engine, I cannot remember where this hose goes.

Could somebody point me in the right direction?

    Power brake booster.

Never mind, I see that is already connected, now that I looked again.

Can you get a couple more shots of the engine bay?

Does it have a vacuum pod on the firewall?

    Hi,
Thanks for replying. I have put the air cleaner back on but is this shot more useful?

The hose has a curl in it, so I have been trying to work out where that goes to. I will have a look at the firewall.

I have connected it here, do you think that looks right?

Well, if you start it and it runs horribly, then it’s probably the wrong place. Trial and error

Ok, I will give it a go. I just didn't want to break anything.

If there is an issue, the engine will likely idle at a higher (maybe 1500-1800) rpm or not idle at all. That is how you know you still have a vacuum leak

Please don't take this the wrong way but next time take the pictures before you do the cosmetic stuff ( or any work for that matter ) and you won't have this problem again. :)

Hi, yes I completely agree and understand. I usually do but on this occasion I did not have a reference picture.

Adam, here is an untouched other than cleaned 11K 72 Electra engine bay that you may want to use for a guide, most everything should be the same. Sometimes it's nice to have a guide IMG_2088.JPG IMG_2089.JPG IMG_2090.JPG IMG_2091.JPG IMG_2092.JPG IMG_2094.JPG IMG_2088.JPG IMG_2089.JPG IMG_2090.JPG IMG_2091.JPG IMG_2092.JPG IMG_2094.JPG

GM chassis service manuals have illustrations for all hose routing connections.

+1 If you're going to work on your car, and it seems like you like to, that is an excellent investment.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I have a chassis and fisher manual already. I just find it difficult to locate the information that I am looking for. I am starting to get used to the way they are laid out though and getting my bearings around the engine. I certainly love working on her - more than driving her actually!
