I put a set of mini-gauges on my 64 Rivi that I can remove for shows. I put the temp sender in the plug you describe on the rear of the driver's side head. I kept the factory sender and the hot/cold lights operational as per factory. On the oil sender, there's enough room to run a "tee" for two senders, one for the idiot light, and one for the gauge. This can't be seen easily from the top of the engine during shows. The only oil passageway for a sender is on the passenger side of the block, at the rear.

    George,

The temp switch is in the front of the head on the passenger side (the head swapped around). The water plug in the head is the same size as the end on your 1/2" or 3/8" ratchet or extension. I can not remember which size.

The oil pressure sender is above the oil filter in the attached picture. Hope that helps out.

George the size of the oil sender and the water sender are both 1-1/16.
I really have no use for the idiot lights so they were disconnected in favor of the gauges.
You can run you wires, tubes etc through the groumet where the heater blower motor wire comes through the fire wall. Just a suggestion.

wow,i wouldnt even think the oil switch was there, but the main question now is,how do i get that plug off of the head?that thing probably hasnt been off since they built the motor 37 years ago,any suggestions on how to pull this off?

    Thanks

Mine had a nice coating of under carriage lubrication also know as grease and oil. It came right off with a gentle tug on the plastic connector.
