Before I sell this old flip style filler cap in the "Parts" section I was hoping some gurus might be able to help me figure out its origin so that I can try to establish a reasonable value. There are no identifying marks other than the letters stamped "ENOTS.B'HAM ENGLAND" in the brass portion of the lid, which is spring loaded to seal against the base plate once the lid is closed. The opening is about 3.5" ID. Thanks for any help! http://home.comcast.net/~shinzan/filler_cap.jpg
My guess is its from an old 60's style race car... not anything factory. something that ran at like lemans or that type event.
I think it's a race car cap too, but...... don't jags have such caps? And I can imagine there being other British cars out there too that might have em.. Edit: sorry, didn't click photo..
Actually it's Birmingham, but most English people will say Brum, just like most Americans say Vegas instead of Las Vegas, or L.A. for Los Angeles.
For the few that haven't clicked Boattail's picture: A chrome Monza cap attached to the Jenks' Bolts special adaptor A polished Aluminium cap on Mike Selmans' Bonnie
For the few that didn't read the post above this one: A chrome Monza cap attached to the Jenks' Bolts special adaptor A polished Aluminium cap on Mike Selmans' Bonnie o No: o No: o No: ou: It's not my photo, it's the photo that DaWildcat posted, and how hard are size5 purple letters saying Click photo to miss ? p
Obviously Boattail you didn't read the few posts after you made yours. People were still guessing to what it was although you had solved it. Some people don't read every post, just the ones at the beginning and at the end. That is why I simplified it.
I didn't solve it: it's still unknown from what car or boat (can I mention an air balloon....?) this thing is. I only linked to this Triumph website in Blighty, because there they mention Enots from Birmingham
Thanks!!! Thanks to everyone (and Google), I think I figured it out. Aftermarket item from way back made by Enots (UK). The big ones like this are called the "Aston" versions. Looks like I might have to find some AC Cobra owners out there! Thanks again to everyone for the help, Devon
