I thought this was some interesting trivia, from Hagerty:
"The American company BorgWarner also played a key role promoting DCAs(dual clutch automatic). After BW demonstrated what it called DualTronic to European car makers in the early 1980s, Porsche teamed with gearbox maker ZF to develop PDKs(same as DCA only in German) for road use. In 1998, convinced that stick shifts would soon die out, BW sold rights to the husky T56 six-speed manual transmission it developed for the 1992 Dodge Viper to Mexican manufacturer Tremec. That firm promptly thrived as the go-to source for T56s for Camaros, Corvettes, Mustangs, and Vipers."

The t56 is much better.. the .50 OD makes for some crazy top speed capabilities.

T5s were ok for their intended purpose. Gutless 305s and 302s. Don't powershift into 3rd!!

The T5 isn't bad of you've got a short throw shifter with positive stops. I loved my PRO5.0 shifter. You couldn't miss 2nd to 3rd with it. It went with me between 3 different 5.0 Mustangs. But, yeah, easy to break if you really started pouring the power to them. World Class T5 was better.
