no real info that's different from any other 300 besides the high comp ratio..said to be something like 11.1 comp.
aircleaner has 355 wildcat instead of 310 which represents the torque rating of the engine

i think the hp was stated somewhere around 230

It's a common misstatement that the '65 has 11:1 comp. It has, according to the owners' and shop manuals, 10.25:1. This is because they switched to iron heads in '65. '64s had 11:1. I doubt it was actually that high in either case.

64's were 11:1?? Oboy.... any idea what happens when you bolt a set of '64 heads to a high compression 340? I wasn't expecting that.

i'm still curious to see how well 64 heads would bolt up to a 350 block

    headers might be a drawback
    only 2 options are

poston 300-340 headers ( they need so many preoders before they make a batch so give them a call)

the other option is fininf a pair of 215 rover or 4.0.45 shorty headers..just look at them and your car closely to fit...and i think you have to bore out either the inlets or outlets...search for a 300 headers thead...or a post by me entitled rover headers and look at the similar thread results below
oh and for the cams...ta performance or poston

i;d reccomend the poston sb110a cam

I have a GM 300 stock engine test report from 1964, it says the specification is 11:1 on that year model, although they had to mill the heads to get it for the test.

that looks to be a Motor Trend article, i'm assuming 1964 or maybe late 63. any idea which month?

any idea what happens when you bolt a set of '64 heads to a high compression 340?

the intake runners in the 64 aluminum intake/head 300 are undersized. most of the performance 300 guys seem to go with the iron heads and intake and just do porting. the weight savings and tighter compression chamber are intriguing though.

i've wondered for a long time what a 340 intake and a Rover head would do on a 350 myself.
