For a buick v6 distributor. Just wondering where I can get new shaft bushings or if anyone knows the part number. Looked all over and can't find anything. Sorry if this is in the wrong section, didn't really know where to put this.

My 455 Dist has some play in it so I was thinking about trying new bushings in it if they can be replaced. I think that is whats causing my Stinger to not work sometimes because of the change in air gap.

I just bought one from the parts store and swapped the guts out when that happened to me.

Are you talking of the washers that go betweem the gear and housing that removes up and down play? If so, I believe you can get those from TA Performance or most speed shops such as Summit Racing.

the bushings for a v6 is probably the same ones that are in a v8... just about any gm v8.... the factory saves money that way.....not sure on this... but ,,,,, could be.....:grin:

That's what I was thinking, but no way to confirm it. I may tear the distributor open soon and post pics. The thrust bushing looks to be ok but the ones that go in the housing are bad. Yeah you'd think all the hei distributors share the same bushings since they're all pretty much set up the same, but you never know. Even so, I can't even find a part number under any chain store or performance shops. Rockauto lists bushings, but I think they are advance bushings, not shaft bushings. The end gear looks the same as any replacement gm, and those seem to be plentiful, but I never find a listing for the shaft bushings. This part is made to wear, and it does, I'm surprised that I didn't find anything yet.

When I go to the race track and I rely on my Stinger ignition to make horespower It sucks when I go to start it and no spark. I have tried everything but the play in the distributor. We need to get these distributors tight. If I get a chance I will disassemble one and figure out how to drill the housing out and put a bushing in there if there is not a replacement. Come on Buick guys just Do It!, Do It! :Smarty:

I would love to have a 455 regal to play with, I think it would make a fun summer beater. ta performance sells a few bushings. According to their listing they're all the same for all GM hei and points.

Yea I had a Regal once but lost interest. I just need a big garage to work on those cars 1 by 1 and money.
