You could try under 'Parts Wanted' on this board, or you can see what's available on the evilBay, or you can try www.oldbuickparts.com for repro caps. :TU:

I had one, sold it on evilbay for 11$. They show up every now and then.

Ebay. There are replicas out there, which go for about $30-40 apiece, and they look just like the originals. They show up every few weeks. Don't waste your money on a used one! Try searching under the key words "medallion" and "rally" caps. And I'd make the clown who broke yours pay for it. Tell him they sell for about $100.

the best way i have found to remove these caps is using the end of the wooden handle of my 2 pound sledge hammer ...using the head of the hammer as a handle ...just lightly bump the other end of the handle against the backside of the caps metal fingers while holding the frontside of the cap in your other hand (so it wont fall on the ground/floor when it pops off.
    works like a charm.
i found an old R cap in my garage today ... i will post a pic of it tonight or tomorrow ... it you want it, its your ...(its hazed ..and has a couple of fingers missing).
i also have a pair of used R caps somewhere around here, but have not found them yet ..

A little smear of all purpose grease around the perimeter of the hub and the tabs on the retainer will make removal a little easier, and will also minimize damage/breakage of the brittle spring steel fingers of the retainer, as it prevents them from rusting on to the hub ! :Smarty: :TU:

I have a set of 4 matched center caps that I bought from a GM dealership new in about 1988. I believe the application was for a '73 Riv. They have a chrome outer ring with a silver center and the black "r" emblem in the middle.
I would take a picture of them and post it, but I am right in the middle of a garage remodeling project and they are in a box in my basement somewhere. If you are interested in buying all 4 let me know and I will try to find them. They are in like new condition.

My Centurion came with one "R" marked center cap when I found it.

Now that I have purchased (one by one) NOS "Buick Motors Division" ones on eBay, ( $10 2 years ago, $20 last year, and 40$ a few weeks ago !), I can give my "R" one for free if you pay shipping from France (I guess approx $10).

I wont see it before next week, but I recall more or less that it might be in a slightly better shape than Yuk's (but not completely sure). Important thing is to get enough steel "fingers" on the back so that they stay on the wheel....

the cap i have looks a little better in the picture than it does in person ...but it does have all of its rusty little fingers still in tact.

i bought one of my 75 verts from a drunk that tried to tell me the reason it had "R" caps on the wheels was because it was ordered with the "riviera" wheel option :Dou:

    Sorry, already spoken for. Thanks.

  14. Some places just don't care.

On my Tacoma, it has a very large center cap that comes off. If you remove the lugnuts with the cap on, the impact socket takes the paint off the bolt areas of the center cap. You must take the cap off before you slam the impact wrench in there. Heck, you would have to take them off to balance them anyway.

Everytime I get my tires rotated and balanced I say "you must take the center caps off" and the counter guy will look at me like I am treating him like he is in elementary school. I don't try to sound demeaning, but if it has happened before, if I don't say it ever time it may happen again.

Do yourself and them a favour Joe - yank em before you take it in ? :Do No: :TU:

  16. I have done it before, it just all depends on when I get them rotated. If I plan my trip I can take the caps off at work, but if I just happen by there and decide to get them rotated, I let them do it so I don't get dirty. :TU:
