Can anyone recommend someone that repairs small cracks (3" or less) in the ends of a black vinyl dashpad? These are not deep cracks, just surface cracks in the outer layer (courtesy of the USPS).
    Thanks for your help, Randy

You might try one of the vinyl repair kits like The Eastwood Co. or JC Whitney sell. Worst case is Just Dashes.....not cheap of course.

Not cheap will often be defined as $500-100 will the repair services.

Just Dashes will return your pad in like new condition with excellent service. However, you pay dearly for the quality. The repair kits work but you may find they discolor after a few years. You might be better off looking for another pad. Did USPS settle with you?

Jefferson Bryant is doing an Article on Dash repair for 1 of the Magazines out soon.
Might be worth the wait if $ are a problem & You have the time.
His Articles I believe are in Car Craft, Hemmings Muscle Car & or Muscle Car Enthusiast (Not sure which, as I get the last 2).
Articles have been Very good of the ones seen and quite helpful.

Had Just Dashes do the repair of a dash recently. Happy with the results for the most part. But the small opening on the passenger side for the Buick emblem was too small. The edges were no longer defined but more rounded, so the emblem would not fit. I called them and they said to heat the area with a heat gun and it would become maleable (sp?). Cut out a piece of 1/8" thick aluminum the same size as the emblem and once the pad was hot I pressed it into the opening. Once it cooled it retained that shape. Glued the emblem in place and its good to go.

We have a place up here in Lincoln, NE called Dr. Vinyl that does a pretty good job on dashes. Dr. Vinyl is a franchise business so might have on down your way. Check the phone book or www.dexonline.com or www.switchboard.com and see where closest one is. Or their website at www.drvinyl.com. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the info. Still in process with the USPS. I can't say it looks promising. Damage was on both ends. At least they didn't smash it in the middle!
