Hey guys, my heads are at the head specialist for rebuild. Intake valves are within 1 thou of specs, he can work with them but would prefer to change but I cannot find any through my local jobber, GM says part number no longer exists...any suggestions? Am on a time line...moving on the 30th...anyone got a line on these??? Maillard, Soft Seal and Elgin do not have... Couple of these guys have Exhaust....No Intake... :eek2:

Yep...Egge has great customer service and their valves are beautiful, at least the ones I got for my '53.

Thanks!I phoned Poston and they said they did not have any intake valves available for my 67 300.

Iwill change exhaust valves and have the intake valves reworked. New guides, seals, take the edge off that bowl radius as per Ponch recommendations.the machine shop will check the compression on my springs and will insure they are sufficient for the 110 cam.Do I need new push rods? (Heard some guys say change cam need diff lenght)

As Ponch said. In addition, if the base circle of the camshaft was ground smaller then that would necessitate a longer pushrod. But most likely you'll be fine to reuse your original pushrods. Just check the lifter preload.

looks like my springs are reading at 50lbs. Machine shop wants to see 85 to 100 with this cam. I installed my frt cover, cross threaded an oil pan bolt and the threads for the gas pump popped before the torque wrench ever went click. Should have rented a video instead. A talented friend will be helping me correct this mishap. What a waste of time! Things were going so well!!

How can I torque that harmonic balancer to 145 lbs? I was able to lock it up to take it off but cannot seem to attain same with the clockwise rotation.

On my 350 I attach a chain with a nut and bolt through a hole in the harmonic ballancer and secure chain to the cars frame so it won't rotate.

That chain tip is a good idea but I usually just have someone hold the brake peddle for me,just kidding of course.

    Brake Pedal...hahahaaaha!

You could also chain the wrench to the frame and start the motor up. That should get it up to 145 ft pounds pretty quick.

****JUST JOKING, DO NOT TRY THIS!!****

Sean, chain worked great. All back together, started, did cam break in. All looks well...We had 2 mishaps. 1st we did all the top center thing, inserted the distributor but we were off by 180 degree, cranked it over a bit before we finally figured it out. This next one just killed me, on start up we had no oil pressure!!! BIG ZERO, it ran like that for mabe 20 seconds...we did not have distributor all the way in so it was not engaging with the oil pump shaft! DAAAHHH! Ah well, what can you do. I am looking forward to take it out for a run to see the difference in performance. Now if only I can find a deal on 200 r4

Go to Aamco trans in Burnaby. They gave me the name of a part salvage place to get cheep trans, motors ect. I can't find the # for the salvage place so call them and get the name of the salvage company. They are good to deal with and I recomend getting them to rebuild it.

The only way to buy a used trans to run without rebuilding is if you can test drive the car before its pulled.
