Im curious of how the cars from this ear did compared to the old muscle cars considering they became much heavier than before (eg heavy bumpers, emissions, heavier sound insulation, etc) Patrick
old copies of car & driver, road & track or the like? many of the car mags sell back issues so you could go to the library and research which month had the car you where interested in. heck, maybe some old library has it.
my 73 stg1 4 spd stock went 15.5's. disconnected the air pump, 15.0's. air pumps take out a lot of h/p to move that 4300 lb car. got down to 13.2 (3800 lbs)with a bad cam in nhra g/stock. stopped racing it in '77 cause of nhra. they dont like buicks. john
Patrick, Look at my sig. Thats with a stock 350-4 TH350 trans and 3.08 gear. That won't last long though. in about 3or 4 months I should have my 650+ HP 464 installed.
Thanks guys, I just have a think for these cars (they have a charm to them and you don't see them at car shows that often) and am curious how much its made up about how slow they are. Patrick
First pass (in 1978) was a 15.10. By the end of the day I was going 14.90. By the time I was done with the stock motor it was going 13.30's. I reinstalled the stock motor a couple years ago (it had sat in a crate for about 20 years) and it went 12.25. I think the difference between the 13.30 (in 1980) and the 12.25 (in 2003) was weight, converter and rear axle ratio (oh, and went from a Quadrajet to a Holley, too). K
