I am working on a '71 Skylark with A/C. I am trying to buy a new diaphragm that goes on the right kick panel and brings air from the cowl vent or blower motor into the passenger compartment. The service manual calls it an "air inlet and valve assembly." It is shown on pages 13-67 13-68 of the service manual and is in page 9-30/31 in the illustrated parts catalog with a group number of 9.277. The group listing in the chassis and body parts catalog does not identify the part and gives several other group numbers for the part. I have looked in all those groups and found no listing. I also looked up the patent number and it is registered to GM in 1962. And I assume it was used for many years after and in many different applications. The patent number is 3187640. I have been able to find the original patent info but no part number(s) as would be expected. Eckler's has a similar item in their catalog but the image is different than what I am looking for. For now I will put the old one back in the car and see if /how well it works. It does not hold vacuum above 3 psi for more than a few seconds and bleeds off instantly on either port. Thanks in advance for the assistance.
Ponch, I was pretty sure it would take less than 5 minutes and .... I think they are behind the counter and you have to ask the Pharancist for them. IIRC, in the drawer next to the Plan B.
Sorry, I just couldn't help myself Guys. The Sick side pushed the Rational side out of the way, as usual. I'm glad we understand each other. :TU: PONCH
