Recent trip netted a rare junkyard find, tho not a Buick. 1971 Chevy Biscayne 4dr Sedan Police Package. Complete with original 402 big block, 140 mph speedo, rubber mat,HD equippment. It's coming home next trip.
I don't know yet, but it is not rotted despite how crappy it looks. The hood is junk, but the hard to find stuff is good. Super nice grille, solid body and straight bumpers. There is another one available that is supposed to be a lot nicer.
Ted, How did you post that @ 7pm last night when I met up with you on the road in N fl @ 10 pm? Man ur good! Oh and BTW, Thanks for the delivery. the bumper looks great! Kudos to Nailhead also!
Awesome find. My next door neighbor growing up had one, I always thought the 400 badges coupled with the 402 big block was cool. Devon
clearcoat the body and rock it with that patina. maybe some CLR on the rust to remove some of the rust color from the body.
I'm becoming more and more intrigued by the old cop cars. Nowadays there's fleets of cookie cutter cars. I remember in the town I grew up in in NJ, they had Impalas at first in 69 with the cherry lamps. They later had Dodge Monaco, Ford LTD's and Plymouth Furies all active at the same time in this small town. It was really cool. You got used to recognizing parking light orientation in the evening hours mighty quickly. ou: How cool would it be to race that Biscayne at the strip. Great find.
By the looks of that intake, I bet there's at least 1 dead mouse somewhere inside that engine!
I remember when I was a kid , the local Police Department had black 4 dr sedan 1968 Buick Special Deluxes. I also remember seeing atleast one black Special Deluxe stationwagon Police car. I sure wish the local library had an archive file of these with pictures:Brow: ........................Mac
Everytime I see an old patrol car I remember watching Easy Rider with Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper. There is a small town scene where they had gone into a local restaurant for lunch. The local cop was sitting at the counter and some teenage girls were in the adjoining booth. The restaurant didn't serve them so they walked out and the girls followed them. While filming them talking with these girls outside, the patrol car was sitting directly across the street and it was a `65 2dr Biscayne with big block flags on the fenders. This was filmed in `69 so I have to assume it was an original 396-425hp car, which was a pretty rare car.
