When one of the two gas tank straps that holds your nearly full gas tank breaks looks from your rusty frame and you realize the the second strap may go at any moment. Just some of the fun guys like us have with old cars. Fortunately I made it home with the tank intact. Bill
Make sure to clean the surface with laqure thinner before you put the duct tape on, thats probably why it failed before.
thats terrifying. The first buick i owned the steely broke off the axle while driving down a back street. haha.
I've seen on vans the tank held in with ratchet straps here in the hood. And the road rash on the tank from it falling. why the cops don't stop these I have no idea. But i get nailed in rush hour traffic keeping up with traffic on a road that's posted speed is too low for the road....:blast:
I guess I need to buy more duct tape! BTW, tried to do a quick fix repair job by hooking steel straps I got at Lowe's from the rear axel to the rear bumper. That held up for about five minutes because every time I hit a bump and the car body dipped and rose (but the axel did not), it stretched my homemade straps until they broke. Better that I broke these straps then crush the gas tank. Oh well, off to the weld shop on Friday to do it right.
