So....I got in my car tonight (72 lark custom) to take my buddy home, kick on the lights and all of my dash lights are out. I thought it was just a fuse or something but I got to his house and he sees that my side markers and tail lights are out as well. The break lights, blinkers and headlights are fine, and as far as I could see all the fuses are good. Any ideas on where I should start with this one? Thanks in advance!
check the wiring harness through the firewall for corrosion and broken wires. check all of your ground points in the dash for corrosion.
The dash light are the grey wires. Check the back of the light switch to see if it is connected. For most of us it is time to consider new wiring harness. 30 to 40 year old wiring is not a good thing.
Nice Journey reference. I'll second the fusible link idea - same thing happened to me & that's what it was.
Hey thanks guys for all the replies. And thanks for getting the Journey thing Truzi, didn't know if anyone would. It turns out that there was just some corrosion on the fusebox that I couldn't see in the dark. So I cleaned it up and put in some new fuses and got everything up and running. Thanks again for all the help!
If the stereo-type of Buick owners is true, maybe the reference was too new. (That was a joke everyone.)
Just to raise my musical geekiness level a bit more... The actual line is "When the lights go down in the city..." followed by "And the sun shines on the bay..." Devon
