When fuel pump eccentric is low, is engine at TDC?

    Hello,

I guessing yes, but which stroke? Compression?

I just installed a fuel pump and am trying to understand what stroke the engine was in that made installing easy. I rotated the crank while I watched through the cavity where the fuel pump mounts until the eccentric was at its lowest point. The TDC mark on the balance was lined up at that point.

I hope this isn't a stupid question. I have tried to do my own research, but I don't have a grasp on the workings yet.

    You are correct. TDC compression.

Yes, this is when factory workers installed the Dizzy and the fuel pump on the Assy line!

Cool! Thanks. The main reason I had my doubts was that my distributor rotor orientation didn't look exactly like the picture in the service manual as pointing towards number one cylinder. Here is mine. 20190518_184122.jpg

That is pretty close. #1 should be just before the vacuum advance.
