YEARS AGO I REPLACED A SHORTBLOCK AND IT FILLED WITH WATER. THE HEADS WERE WRONG FOR THE BLOCK.
WHAT YEARS WILL FIT EACH OTHER, ALSO IS THE CRANKS AND RODS THE SAME ON ALL 350s. THANKS FOR THE INFO.....CLARENCE

I beleieve it was 73 when Buick changed the water passages on the block and heads on the 350. Also, 73 is when they changed to the cap screw rods as well.
Putting 73 or later heads on a 72 or earlier block will cause the dreaded water in the oil pan, unless the extra 2 holes in the heads are plugged off before the install. Jim Burek

    CRANKS AND RODS

I WAS WONDERING WHAT MODEL CRANKS AND RODS WOULD INTERCHANGE IN THE 350s. WHICH RODS ARE THE BEST
AND WHICH CRANK IS THE LIGHTEST. THANKS FOR ANY HELP........

    Re: CRANKS AND RODS

The 73 and up cap screw style rods are the best. All the cranks are the same. Jim Burek P.A.E. ENTERPRISES
