Nice to see someone still using the TQ1000. What kind of intake are you running?

Fast ramp cams are just cams with more aggresive lobes. Basically it gets the valves moving faster. All of the high energy stuff out there from other manufacturers are fast ramp designs. This particular grind has never caused any problems. It's just a really good running little cam. It's right around .500 lift with I beleive 1.55 rockers, don't have the card handy. Jim Burek

Who makes this mystery Scott Brown 226/238 cam?

It's a straight line performance cam. And I sell them from PAE enterprises. Jim Burek

What does that cam do to gas mileage?

Or, at what point in cam selection do you start giving it up / not caring about it?

I have never done a gas mileage comparison between cams. Most performance cams are designed for just that ,more performance, not more gas mileage. I believe the bigger factor in mileage here would be final gear ratio, if you are running 3.73's your mileage will not be as good as if you are running 3.08's Jim Burek

I put the TQ1000 atop a SP1. I had to take the manifold off and seriously blend the rear port entries. This made a .15 et change with two hours of work. If anyone is running an older SP1 with a spreadbore you should take off your carb and look at the rear machining. You will see a ring of unmachined area enter 3/8" of the rear barrel area. Grind this off even with the surface pattern and blend mainly to #6 and #5 port enties. Works!
