Ok I am curious on what the rear wheel well lip should look like on my 68 GS400. The trim wraps underneath and then stops. The fender (or whatever it technically is) protrudes past the trim piece a good 1-1/2". On the drivers side this protrusion only runs about half the length of the wheel well. The passenger side it runs the entire length. The picture is of the drivers side looking up from the ground. The reason I am curious about this is that I would like to shave/roll this excess. One reason is that even with the 225-70/14 tires there is a finger width of space between my tire and the protrusion. The second is, I want to bump up my tire width some and this will obviously allow for more room. Thanks for the input!

If I posted this in the wrong section, my apologies. Let me know where it should go and I'll repost!

Judging by the attachment screws, yours probably has had some repair work done on that side. That said, there's no harm in trimming or rolling that back and even trimming or rolling the stainless for more room. Pull the trim off first though, just to be sure trimming the lip isn't opening some worm-can of prior bodywork.

Thanks that's what I was hoping to hear!
