    Al,
Are the rest of yours original?
I used a stainless mod-truss with Phillips head on my car as I had no originals.
These are plenty available & relatively cheap.

    Al,
    Here is a minor detail:

Front and rear wheel well trim screws are different! If you car is for judging!

Darned if I knew that. When they are sold aftermarket I have never seen a distinction made. What is the difference?

Front screws are a smaller head diameter. I have both and it is hard to show in a digital cam pic because the screws are so small and hard to focus and show the details.

    Ok, lets get into this!

I just happen to be addressing this on my car this week. Im replacing the incorrect 71-72 style front trim with the 1970 version. Naturally, my car has a variety of screws holding the fronts and rears on.

Here are a couple of pics. The pair on the left is what I think the originals are for the front. The pair in the center are off the rear trim. The heads seems slightly larger to me:Do No: . The pair on the far right are the aftermarket replacements the Chevelle places are selling.

Im inclined to just put the set of new ones on even though they arent exactly correct. I wouldnt consider my car a show car, but if Im going to replace moldings, I want to at least make an effort to put the right stuff back on.

And would points really be taken off for this? Where's Duane, aka "The Thread Ender"

I scoured my parts books, but came up empty. I did come across a number of 588546 for a wheel opening molding screw. Im not sure if its 70 or 71-72 but I ordered 10 packs of 10 for $20.00 and change. I also ordered a set I found on Ebay that seem to be correct replacements. Im pretty sure the Ebay ones are from AMK.

Once I receive the new screws I'll post the pics of what I got. Talk about sweating the details!

The aftermarket Chevelle ones will be perfect for the 68 Riviera. Im not as anal retentive about that car as I am the 70 GS

There is no need for me to post here. George has it handled.

I know of the ones on the far left, and was not aware of the use of two different sizes for the front and rear, AL.

Just wanted to update this thread. I ordered a package of GM #588546 screws from the dealer just to see what would show up. I also ordered a set of wheel well screws from Inline Tube.

I think the set from Inline is the closest match to what Buick used originally. In fact, I'd say they were nearly identical. And 12.00 for a set of 32.

Yes, the GM ones are on the right, Inlines on the left.

Ther Inlines look more like rears than fronts, but its really hard to tell. I took another pic. We have from left to right, an original front, an original rear, the Inline tube repro and the current GM number.

It almost looks like the Inline is an in beteen size between the fronts and rears. I think the Inlines would be fine.

I think we pretty much separated the pepper from the fly sh*t on this one
