I am considering two different wheels to install front and rear of my 71 Skylark GS. The first wheel is the American Racing Torq Thrust II, VN515 8961, 18" x 9" with 5.0" back spacing and 0mm offset. The second wheel is the US Mags Bandit U109, with +8mm offset and 5.31" backspacing. Which one of these two wheels do you see having fewer issues installing on my 71 GS.
    Thank you for all input.

I had to do 6.5" bs (1/4" spacer so really 6.25" bs) on my 9.5" on my 68. I am not sure either one of your choices will fit, how much of a difference is the in wheel well space between yours and mine? I should say that mine fit but it is all that will go under it. Someone else with more experience will chime in am sure.

From what I have read here, you will want zero to 12mm offset. For a 9" rim that is 5 to 5.5" backspace.

To calculate backspace, add 1 inch to the listed wheel width (accounts for wheel lip, listed width typically is from inner bead surface to inner bead surface), then divide by 2 to get the wheel centerline. That is zero offset. Positive offset is offset to the exterior side of center, and negative is to the inside. Offset is in mm, so 12 mm is approximately .5 inches (25.4 mm per inch).

Check out my thread below this one on wheels, as I am also going with 18x9s. Also, search for 9 inch wheels as there is another thread with good discussion on 9 inch wheels.
