JUst wondering if anyone else is having a problem getting Buick parts from Year 1? A while back I ordered a piec for my conv. top, was told it would take 2 weeks, it was about 2 months later and it finally arrived. 6 weeks ago I ordered a GS trunk emblem as a present for a friend and was told 2 weeks. I am still waiting. Today a friend was telling me he ahd ordered a GSX grille emblem and was also told it would be 6 to 8 weeks and if he wanted it faster to buy somewhere else. Dosen't sound like good business! Is Year 1 getting out of the Buick's. It's not looking good!! Paul
Yea, I guess you are right. At the same time that I ordered the emble I also got a 50.00 Gift Cir, funny then did not have any trouble getting that here! You might be right about small orders, but the next time I have a large on I will remeber this. I is kinda odd, when we were restoring our car and needed 20k in parts I had no trouble getting things, amybe I used up all of there inventory! I will wait until the next post card comes and Cancel and buy some where else. Paul
I've had no real problems with orders from Year One, whether for $20 of parts, or $250. To state that they don't care about small orders is an unwarranted generalization. They've been an excellent source of Buick parts for many of us. I'm not saying they are perfect. No vendor for any make of car has a perfect track record. Paul, I'm sorry to hear you've had less than satisfactory dealings with them lately. IMO, it's more the exception, than the rule.
In the tank. I bought my first parts from them in 1985. Back then they always exceeded my expectations. How can parts ordered on a west coast Monday morning arrive on a west coast Wednesday afternoon all the way from Georgia (and no they were not drop-shipped)? My latest experiences with them indicate that YO has been on a 20 year downhill slide from great to mediocre.
Small orders of items in stock surly get shipped quick. Only thing I got from year 1 is my 68 Firebird hood scoops. Cost $60 and I wait n waited a long long time. Almost forgot about them. Kind of like as a kid when you ordered a toy from a cereal box. Soon as you forget about it. It show up like a surprise. Of course I was happy when I got them but honestly almost forget I even ordered them it took so long. Sound like him and his buddy are getting the same thing. Service with a false smile and a long wait. yea sure, it will ship in two weeks [hehehehe] 8 weeks later....
I really can't blame them though. If its in stock I am sure they ship fast. If it not they Will gladly take your money and ship when ever they get it. But the honesty on how long it takes them to get and ship it isn't very honest. But again like they told him " order it somewhere else" if you don't want to wait. The only time I really get mad about long order waits is when you pay a hefty price for next day or two day shipping and it takes them two weeks to ship it. Only reason I pay that much in shipping is cause I want it now. I think places should have to be more honest or refund shipping when they can't provide the fast shipping people or I pay for.
Sometimes they are waiting on suppliers who they have made orders with to fill those orders. One case in point is the Air cleaner bracket I sell now. They were over 1 year backordered and now they get them from me. And in record time!!
Thats a good point Michael. When your just dealing with the middle man, it can be long wait. Course I am happy with my 1 year 1 order. If I couldn't find it anywhere else I would order from them again but not unless I had to. Them 68 scoops look right at home on my 86.
Too many backorders and expensive shipping. I used to buy from them in the 80's, but got frustrated and now shop elsewhere. They are on my "Last Resort" list of vendors.
Poston is a great vendor! If you order from them right now, please be patient as Ivan hit them pretty good I heard. Atmore AL is just north of Pensacola FL and very close to Gulf of Mexico. Hope they are back on their feet very soon!
