    Brent,

Congrats on your purchase, and welcome to the Buick world.

While there certainly are some things that should be addressed, if you intention is to present the car as a correct restoration, your ahead of the game if the body is rust free, and the paint is acceptable in appearance.

For reference, here is a thread of a very similar car, that underwent a 6 figure restoration here at TSP a few years ago. It should answer many questions you may have about "how it should look".

    Good luck with it!

  3. Thanks for the welcome guys. I really wanted the car based on the history (1 owner) of the car and because they only made about 1040 of them or so. I figured to land a stage 1 in this shape would be in excess of 55 60 G's and wasn't going to spend that kind of money. As I said I have been in contact with original owners family and they didn't say anything about the car being rusty or ragged out etc. I hope the cars meets my expectations so we'll see! thanks for the info!

  4. Wow Jim that triple Black stager is gorgeous! Nice work indeed. The car especially a convert just works in Black, so i'm not really all that upset about the color change of my car. I'm just looking forward to cruisin with the top down on a warm South Carolina night with my wife snugged up next to me on the bench seat!:TU:

I like how just above the photo of the after market Holley carburetor, in bold letters it says: "DONE TO THE HIGHEST STANDARDS! REFERENCE GRADE!!":Do No: It's a very nice car but why do dealers always have to add so much BS to their listings. It takes away from any credibility of anything they say or show IMO.

  7. Hey guys what a crash course in Buicks GS I've had! Without going into all the ugly details I have just about re restored this car. I've been fortunate in that I have Tom Baker about an hour away and he has done a great job advising and getting the car to the way it was advertised. I have corrected the wrong dash with the correct ac dash. The trunk lid is now correct, the motor is now the CORRECT Buick Red paint, the Top is being replaced with better correct unit. I found (at a crazy expense) an NOS hood trim and grill surround trim. I have replaced all the lil bits that were wrong. It has a Quadrajet carb and correct fuel line now. Although the motor was already freshened up we put a slightly hotter than stage 1 cam in it and regasketed the motor. It's running like a GS now. In short I've spent thousands of dollars getting this car in "as advertised" condition and would say its a strong #2 car as this point. There are a few small things that still need to be replaced but I'm plum out of money on this one! I have extra light bezels that will go with the car, but the blackout look does work with this one so I'm not that bothered by that. This car had only been registered by the same family for 39 years. I will be selling it once its done, I have no room to keep it and need to recoup some money. Now it is a nice triple black 70 GS 455. Anyone who know Tom Baker knows he knows his stuff and the car is well sorted out now. WHEW! and I thought Mopars were hard to deal with LOL
