What is the widest rear tire that will fit on a 15x7 WG off set wheel that is under the rear of a 70 lark convertible?

I believe a 275/60R15 is the biggest without the tire starting to look "bulgy". I have heard of people putting 295's on a 7" wide rim, but you may start to have clearance issues with the outer fenderwell lip on the top because of the backspacing of the wheel.

245 is the largest recommended size for 15*7 rim. I run 255 on the rear, 245 on the front. You really need to step up rim size for anything bigger. 8" rim will handle the 275, and it is the biggest to fit under an unmodifed wheel well on a 70. I have had 275/60/15 under mine

I run a 325/50R15 on a 15x10 rim with 5.625" backspacing. The only thing I had to do was trim the very top of the fenderwell to make sure I don't have any potential rubbing issues. And I did put airbags in the rear springs.

    I have 15x7 rims 275/60/15 on rear and 255/60/15 on front ... that's as big as I dare go..for what it's worth..

Any pictures of the 275's on your car? Side and from the back.
