I was wondering what would be the record distance for someone who actually drove his car to the track and back home after the event rather than trailer it to participate? The post down the board about what to bring (tools, spare parts, etc) along to make for a worry free or @ least less troublesome time got me thinking about who throws caution to the wind and heads out to the event with just the car, some tools and supplies in the trunk along with a clean t-shirt, underwear and a toothbrush, and then drives 'er all the way back home after having a blast all weekend.

He drove his 69 Hurst Olds from Kansas City, Mo. to Stanton, thrashed on it, then turned the A/C back on and drove it back home. Not sure how far that is, my guess is somewhere around 800 each way. Not sure what he brought as far as tools or parts (he got a new set of NGK's from me), but he had a whole lot of beer in the trunk.

Followed the fearsome twosome from Nebraska through Iowa and Illinois at about 80 MPH and turned the A/C on through Chicago!:3gears:

Re: What's the farthest distance a competitor in PSMCDR has drove his car to the trac Not really a oneway distance record, but I believe Dave McCutcheon from the St. Louis area, has driven his 1970 Chevelle a total of 10,000 miles(or more) cumulative over the many years of the event. Not the fastest competitor, but consistent.

I drove my old red 71 GS350 there, and I can tell you it's a really neat experience to drive vs. trailer a car to the event. I look forward to doing it again, I'm thinking this year?

You forgot to mention that YOU drive both ways from Indiana along with Darren (but he tows now)!! Dave's Chevelle is amazing. He leaves all his tools and luggage in the trunk as ballast! He might put a set of plugs in it before the event and his car is consistant as a bracket racer from one year to the next. With, or without the AC running! :laugh:
