Hi, my name is Jeff and I'm a Chevelleaholic (Recovering).

I recently bought a 71 Sportwagon and it's missing the hood lip moulding and has marginal headlight bezels. After looking at numerous pics of 70-72 frontends, I'm still not sure that I could tell the difference in a 70 or 71 or 72.
It seems that Specials, Special Deluxes, Skylarks, GS's, GXS's of any of the variuos years have different grills & hood lip mouldings as well as rear bumpers. (Not to mention stering wheels.)
So whats a guy to do? :Do No: Is there anywhere that I could find representative pics of the various years and models?
Also, since this will be a "Beater" / "Driver", can I mix the grills, hood lip mouldings, headlight bezels & bumpers?

Thanks for any help I get.

Look in the members rides section. For information the 71's all had the same hood molding. The 72 had 2 moldings one for the metal grille and one for the plastic grille. The one for the metal grille is flat on the front and the plastic one turns down on the corners. The hood moldings and the headlight doors make up the chrome that surrounds the grille for each of those years. 1970 is way different and cannot be mixed with 71-72. You could mix the 71-72 parts as the bumpers are the same dimention but the 72 has the rubber strips. Again the 70 bumpers are way different. So try to match the headlight doors to the right year hood molding and grille. The 71-72 bumpers are direct fits. Close examination will show the 71 headlight doors and hood molding have a thinner chrome reveal edge than the 72. But if you have to you can mix the 71-72 hood molding but use either both 71 or both 72 headlight doors
