Whats Really Going On???

    ok...so im changing my brakes today, and i got the rears done with no problems. then i go to do the fronts, but the drums will not come off! am i missing something??? HELP!!!!!!

    -1970 Buick Skylark Custom...drums all the way around.

    You have to remove the bearings first, same way you would remove a front rotor. Remove the bearing dust cap, cotter pin, bearing nut, washer & outer bearing. Then the drum & hub assembly will slide off the spindel.

    Sometimes there is a small ridge built up on the outer inner surface of the drum (next to the backing plate) that will prevent the drum from comming off easily - loosen the adjuster, and you should be able to work the drum over the shoes. :TU:

    u may need a persuader hammer to break the drum loose.
