Pot was just starting to get popular in 68! To be truthfull the 400 and 430 were brand new and had a few teething problems in 68. Most Buick stuff was for the nailhead motors. It was a lot easier to build other stuff and I lived in Flint. We probably had more Buick motors in Chevies than any other part of the country but we raced Chevies. When the 455 came out we did use a lot of them in pickups and race car haulers. I had an Olds 88 with a 455 in it that was a super sleeper. Had a buddy with a 425 in a 57 Chevy that was a lot of fun.
My pop and some friends of his having nailheads in just about anything: Jeep panel, 51 Merc convert, 65 Chevy 4x4 pickup,32 chevy are a few. I personally remember my uncle talked a guy into putting a stage 1 4-speed with KB118 cam, headers, and B4B in a 68-9 SS396 Chevelle. He said it would eat up and 396 you could find anywhere. That was in about 1974 so all I remember (at the ripe age of 5) is looking at the engine compartment and my pop, uncle, and the owner all having fairly impressed looks on their faces.
 Makes me laugh every time I see it....i'd like to know who wrote this B.S.! They need to learn a few more lessons before they can talk smack like that again! -Cody
The HOT-RODDER'S MANUAL For STREET & STRIP magazine ,1968 I hope that magazine is OUT OF BUSINESS for Writing such BLASPHEMY against BUICKS!:af::laugh::TU: The guy that wrote that article wasn't "biased" against Buicks or anything, was he?uzzled: That's GOOD, though! At least he didn't recommend to buy FORD or MOPAR stuff!:eek2::laugh::moonu:
ou: Ya know, anybody can write what they think, we are all entitled to our own opinions. Back in 68 there were alot of POT-HEADS......most of them drove Chevys and Pontiac's.....cause when your BUZZZZED, too much power is deadly....:eek2: Funny stuff....DUDE!
