In terms of bumper-to-bumper length, which Buick convertible of the 1960's was the longest?

It has to be an Electra. I found one in my local junkyard a couple days ago. Its white with a red interior. The lower body is rusted but, it is all there along with the interior. Its would make a beautiful car. It really caught my eye just the way it sat.

    Had a 67 Electra convt

Sold it because I lost the garage space and it was too long for the other garage I had.:ball: :ball:

I had to measure it, just slightly over 22' long from what I recall.

wow...22'. That has got to be the longest.

My LeSabre is only 18' 6". I went up against a Cadillac for the longest car contest once....and won:Brow:

I also had a 67 Electra, the quarters were almost 9' long...
It had a great ride and lots of freeway guts...

Still have the 430 and switch pitch in the garage!

My 66 Electra is 225 is 224 inches from bumper to bumper which is a tad under 19 feet long. The 225 stands for the number of inches from bumper to bumper but apparently only the early (59, 60?) 225's where actually that long.

The 225's are a "C" body design along with Cadillacs and some Oldsmobiles. Though they don't mention the exact measurements, there is a body style chart which makes interesting reading over at ClassicBuicks.com (http://www.classicbuicks.com/body_style.htm) which is worth checking out.

I think that the longest convertible built in the sixties was the 70 Electra. I don't know the overall lenght of the 69, but the 70 model was 225.5" long. And the 64 models that I have seen were not exactly 22' long either. Maybe they could if equipped with a big winch at the front and an aftermarket continental kit with a pointed wire hubcap at the rear:Brow:

I recall my '72 Electra being longer than that year's Caddy. I don't recall the specific dimensions off hand though.
I bought the biggest car cover I could find, I think it was a 19' cover and it fit like 2 lbs of sausage in a 1 lb casing.

Is there a website someone could post with exterior dimensions of the 60's and 70's Electras?

    And the answer is...

    Either 68 or 69...
68 is 224.9". My Standard Guide to American Cars conveniently leaves out the Electra specs for 69, but the 70 (same body style) is 225.8"

Things got fun in the 70s, though.
    71 227.9"
    75 233.4"!!!

According to the books, the Electra 225 is the second longest car built. It was beat out by the Imperial convertible, which was three tenths of an inch longer.
