One of my valve springs had broken i have a stock spring with damper but its shorter then the one that I removed, anyway is there a way to find out the specs on the spring or any recommendations on a new set that i can order, im running a c107 cam ( not sure what the lift is) would like to not touch the heads or rockers with over size springs that requires more work then just changing them The current springs are listed as kb107 part number in the catalog from 1974 but no specs
I have the Kenny-Bell cam card its MK C 107 for BBB.Cam degreeing Data at o.50 lifter rise. Cam lift is -296--296 intake and exhaust Duration intake is-244 Exhaust 266 Open 20 intake- 65 exhaust close 44 intake 21 exhaust. Cam advance 5 - intake center line 102 - 050 intake opening - 20. Hope this helps.Bruno. -
When you order the springs ask Mike at TA what springs you will need for that combo.. Cam in my 70 GS is 242_ 258 and it idles at 1000 rpm.and I have double springs on mine. Bruno.
C107 recommended spring kit A is TA 1435 single stage 1 spring 1125 is overkill and the dual spring requires the guides to be cut The lift is most important for spring application not duration I run the 112 version of that window rattler in my stock appearing 464 with stage 1 springs shimmed to 1.84 shifting at 5800rpm
For a stock or a little hotter then stock rebuilds I have used Crower springs 68302-1 along with there 87022 retainer. There a drop in size wise and can take over .600” lift before coil bind. At a stock 1.850” installed height Crower states they provide 91 psi on the seat, but to me that’s on the edge of too little for a 3/8” stem valve. I shim them to a 1.800” installed height to end up with about 110 to 115 on the seat. once springs break in they will always drop of 8 to 12 psi. If you have had a valve job done on your iron heads your going to need to shim them just to get to Crowers recommended 91 on the seat.
I also have the same card from KB must # are the same, maybe they were made at different times years maybe? Bruno.
