What type of voltage regulator are you guys using these days?

That's exactly what I did Dale - last fall, my original alternator finally quit working, so I went with a rebuilt Delco 10SI with an internal regulator and used an adapter wiring kit from Jamie (65specialconver). I kept the original regulator on the firewall, and the adapter plugged right into the original harness so it still looks original. Just make sure the replacement alternator 'clocks' the same as your original - about a half hour job ! :TU:

Hey Mike, I may take you up on your offer for the voltage regulator. I have a contact that may have one locally but you're only about an hour from here and I'll let you know if it works out. I'll PM you when I figure out what I'm doing here.

    Thanks again,

    Mike

George, your reg is actually a very high quality unit, aftermarket however.I havent seen one since the early '80's,& forget the brand name. Some mid-late 60's Dodge vans came from the factory with that style, had a fuse on the front.

    All,

A few years ago I purchased an original Delco Remy Voltage regultor cover brand new out of the box and saved it. I also aquired a used original Delco Remy voltage regulator with this same cover and base with these numbers on one of the mount tabs - 12V N 1119515. I went to see a friend of mine who owns a parts house and he cross referenced the numbers on the mounting tabs with a new replacement. The new regulator is made by Standard with model number VR171. I bought it and pulled the cover and replaced it with the OEM Delco Remy cover and it looks good. See the picture.

Mike, I wont need your regulator, thanks.

    Thanks again,

    Mike
