i am planning to buy these 17x7 and 17x8 staggered wheels for my 67 riviera. id like a fairly "meaty" look on the rears. i had figured on using a 225/50/17 front, a 255/50/17 rear, but now im wondering if i should go bigger? whats the best way to go on a spare? i understand nothing will fit perfectly but i still need a spare and dont wanna carry 2 fullsize spares, everywhere i go. please tell me what you think. what is the widest, meatiest tires i can fit on a 17x8, on the rear of a 67 riviera? im thinking maybe 255/60/17 would look better. i have the original tires, 225-75-15. do you think i might be better off with ALL 17x8? at least i could have more luck with my spare, **** DOES indeed happen. i am under the impression that a relatively low-profile tire in front will improve handling and ride, and a meatier, thicker rear tire profile will pad out bumps and potholes, and help with traction? is that way off? i keep reading that low profile drive tires make better bite and acceleration, but in my mind, seems like too much power and not enough "give" or "stretch" would HURT traction, and just put me in a burn i waste precious time getting out of. will appreciate any and all input and opinions on any of this, thank you!!
