How about original super sport wheels and BFGoodrich Radial TA 225 70 14 on my all original Exterior/Interior 71 GS350 4 speed car.

Back spacing depends on wheel width. For an 8" wide wheel, 4.5" back spacing is what you want for the 70-72 skylark/GS.

32x18-15 on a 14" wide rim. I just got some skinny 16" wide Sportsman pro tires to use for the street, mounting them on 12" wide rims. Will post pics when they are on the car.

Good info in this thread which I see you posted on,

    http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.p...s-for-a-1965-Skylark&highlight=1965+gs+wheels

For the 70-72 cars, an 8" wide rim will want 4 1/2" of back spacing to center the rim in the wheel well. Earlier cars need more back spacing. From looking around on V8, it looks like the 65's will want 5" back spacing on an 8" wheel on the rear. That would be +1" offset.

I'm looking to go to 17" so I can get a speed rated tire to go with the Tremec OD, tubular suspension I already have and future FiTech. Not a lot with 17s posted in this thread but a few to look over. I'd prefer to keep the overall look as much the same as I can.

    Thanks Larry!

Still right on top of things I see. I might go a bit wider on the rear if they'll stuff with no rubbing issues. I'll have to measure what's on there. 29 x 10.5 Hoosier QTP fit ok. I don't hang out here as much as I used to. Maybe when I start driving the car more again.

Now I just need to find 17" wheels I like.

Going that wide requires a 10" wide wheel, and then the back spacing gets tricky because you are getting near the limit. Because the body may not be exactly centered on the frame, you may have more clearance on one side than the other.

An 8" wide wheel needs 4.5" of B.S. The two tires i listed will fit fine on an 8" wide wheel.

I didnt know you could put 275s on 7" rims. The tire guys all laughed at me when i said I wanted 275s. Do you have any problems with that size on that rim?

Oh you can do it, but it is not optimal. It pulls part of the tread up on each side. A 275 tire needs an 8" wide rim.
