    This dude needs to step away from the crack pipe;

"I have received many inquiries about this car being a 455 or a 350 and I can tell you the 455's aren't at a premium in terms of the value of the car. In other words, many people aren't willing to pay more money to get a 455, the 350s are actually having an advantage because they weigh 400 pounds less, are comparable on Horsepower, and get twice the gas mileage."

The summers there are really mild. It's gorgeous there during the warm season. I became addicted to San Fran a couple years ago when I visited for a week. It's a really neat city, but I don't think it appeals to me for actually living there.

Anyone iterested in my car. It has no engine. Although not a 455 it gets 1,000,000 times the gas mileage and has the new " open your window" ac.

  8. um ya, no reason why a 455 would add value, let alone have any extra horse power. Gee good thing its 400 lbs lighter.

Looks to be decent car, too bad it has a idiot for an owner.

Sometimes it is better to keep thine mouth closed and be thought a fool, rather than open it and remove all doubt.I can't beleive the guy acctually said that, and whats worse wrote it down for all the world to see. What a moron!!!

A Buick 350 must be about 200 lbs then? Just think if we had aluminum heads for a 350. :Brow: :Dou: :error:

That one was on craigslist for $9750 or something close to that.

It's about 60 miles away from me. Tracy is NOT San Francisco. Tracy is a hell of a lot hotter than SF. SF is right on the bay and gets a nice cooling breeze most of the time.

Looks nice enough in the pictures.

the seller obviously has some facts wrong :error: how many of you are overlooking the car, which actually looks pretty nice :bglasses: and,how many are going to bid :Brow:

That is a very nice looking car and the bidding is only $3900 now!

Could use some shots of the engine compartment.

Just look at the pictures. Let them do the talking instead of him.

Take a 455 and a 350 skylark equipped the same going 60 MPH. They'll have the same wind resistance, same rolling resistance. Hence the two engines clearly have comparable, I dare say identical, horsepower (and torque, for that matter). Pretty obvious to anyone who really knows cars.

Did you mean require the same horsepower to move the car? It would be close outside of the extra horsepower the 455 would require to turn the reciprocating mass which wouldn't be much. I used to have a 71 boattail that would get 18 mpg if I stayed below 60 mph so according to his theory if I put in a 350 I would get 36 mpg. Cool I wished I could buy it back. :Dou:

  16. Did they all come out of the wood work just for this thread? By no means am I an expert, however simple laws of phyisics and math would tell me that there is 105 cu in difference, when a increase of cubic inches is in the mix, there is also a difference in hp and tourque. Taking into acount of wind restance, not exactly the same rolling resistance( because of wieght being a factor, not much but enough), I dare say, different hp and tourque #'s the 455 would obviously pull away from the 350 in a timely fashion.

Pretty obvious to anyone who really knows cars. :Dou:
Due to low end tourque #'s, depending on the driver, and my previous experience with big blocks and small blocks, I dare say that gas consumption wouldnt be all that different. So Now go forth and kick ass ye 455 big block :3gears: 'nough said.

It doesn't matter the engine size or max output...to maintain a given speed with a given wind resistance, all other factors being the same, etc., the work required is the same.

Acceleration is a different story. I think Steve meant equivalence at a steady speed, which is correct.

What was Buick thinking when the offered the Stage1 package on the GS455? A Stage1 GS350 would be just as fast, 400 pounds lighter, and get twice the gas milage. :Dou:
