1966 Buick GS Skylark, what size tires will fit the best for performance an clearance for disc brake kit in the near future? Thank you all, I know there are many tires that will fit. I'm looking for white letter tires that will be wide but not to wide that will rub my fender well. I'm not cutting this car one bit to fit tires n wheels. Factory wheels were 14x7 I'm moving to 15×7.

I didn't know or think the 66's came with 7 in. wide rim?
Are sure they are factory or 7 in. in width? Could cause you some confusion to how you see them fit and work now..

They came with 14×6"wheels. I am putting 15×7"wheels on. 5×4 3/4" bolt pattern. Looking to see if there is anybody on here with a 66gs or even a 67 that can recommend the best tire size on tires if they upgraded to 15" rallys also. Thanks

I run 225/60 front and back on mine

225/70/15 is about the same height overall as original and should fit no problem. 235/60 is a little shorter but should be ok; 245/60 is about the same height and width as the G60-15 used in ‘70-‘72, and should fit but verify...

It depends on the backspace of the 15x7 wheels.
Most factory Buick rally's have 4-3/8" back space. The aftermarket ones are 4" backspace. More backspace is better to prevent the tire from rubbing on the outside, on the fender lip.
With the stock rear axle and the 4-3/8" backspace 15x7's, a 255/60-15 is a snug fit. They may rub if the rear isn't centered in the body. A 245/60-15 should fit no problem. But if you put disk brakes on the rear, you will lose more tire clearance.
I run 235/60-15's on the front of my 66's, with disk brakes.

Cooper Cobras are highly regarded here. Here's a tire dimension chart:

Glad this thread popped up as my T/A Radials are a little old and I was thinking of replacing them. Think I'll go with the 225/70/15 up front and the 235/70/15 in the rear.
