If you want to replace the originals, you can measure the sway bar on the car :TU:

Looks like it's a 15 to 16 mm sway bar:

The screenshot says 15 to 16 millimeter, not 15/16 or 1 inch.

1970 Buick Chassis manual says 13/16" I think that would be more like 21mm.

Before you do that, check and see what there is available in the aftermarket, and go as big as you can get. I've seen 1.25" front bars on mid-size cars like Skylarks. It'll also help resolve the question on your other thread.

good thought as i have been considering beefing up the front sway bar to 1 1/8 . i would be trying to balance an original -like ride with firmer handling yet dont want to be so stiff its not a cruiser anymore, marty

You could probably go bigger, with a bigger car. Don't know what's out there, though.

im going to try staying with what appears to mic out to 13/16 front sway bar and 70 electra energy links and sway bushings are verifiable also on ebay from several sellers so im going to try them. The parts are 9.5107 for the universal energy bushings and 9.8117 for the link set. IS IT TRUE that changing these bushings will give the feel of a slightly bigger bar,marty:eek2:
