What size phillips head screw driver socket removes the screws on a 1965 Skylark door hinge. Does anyone have one they use for that purpose and if so would you please share that info with me. I am going to have to order this socket without seeing the actual size. That is the price you pay when you live in a remote area.

    ordered one

I ordered a number 4 phillips head on line from Sears. I let you know if it works....that was the biggest I could find.

It may take an impact screwdriver to get those off. I tried to get the large phillips screws off the door latch mechanisms on some 71 doors I have and they will not budge. The heads may strip if not carefull!

    waiting on Sears

I am currently waiting for a number 4 phillips head bit to arrive. I just placed the order online a couple of days ago for the socket. I will let you know if it works on the hinge screws as soon as I have time.

    It fits!

Size 4 is correct, but Craftsman sockets are way too long to fit in the door jamb area. I will cut it and make it shorter to fit. I was amazed that Craftsman now presses the bit into the crome base, looks weak to me.
