I know it's 10 bolt... and it's stock. How many inches? I don't know much about rear ends but I'm looking into 3.73 gears and possibly is a positrack. So what ring and pinion set or positrack do you guys think would work or what would you guys prefer I go with? And I've been told to talk to Jim about rear ends...

PM Monzaz. I would think you will get the best deal from him. If your rear is stock, it is an 8.5 10 bolt with bolt in axles. The Eaton Posi and gears are available everywhere. Monzaz will give you the best price I would think.

Yep you first need to determine what your going to do with the car. Drag race? street cruise? burn out king? as far as gears go again will you be freeway driving more ? street strip drag race only and your tire size and transmission will affect the final ratio also over dirve or 3 speed TH etc.

Usually most opt for the GM reconditioned posi
    BUT
if you want the most strength I would go with a aftermarket unit not on for strength BUT for parts support down the road as the GM unit is suffering from clutch and especially spider gear parts real expensive now and hard to find NEW stuff...The old stuff ain't gett'in and NEWER!!! lol.
    3.42 or 3.73 gear ratio.

3.42 if your a more street / less strip
3.73 if your a less street / more strip
3.08 more interstate show cruising with a 3 speed auto trans

Hope this helps some. We can tell you all day long what is great but you really need to make the decision because your driving the car. :)
Please do be careful on ebay with used parts...if you can find one from a member of the v-8 board and pay a bit more it might be worth it to know it is good. Jim

I am here if you need more help. Jim:TU:

Alright, Jim. Thanks for all the help. Everything you told me there is the basics of what I need to know at this point. I'm still researching and debating now, but I may be looking to buy within about a year. I'll keep you in mind. :TU:
