I was wondering what size alternator I should have on my 68. It is a convertible with factory AC and power windows. I know they have a few different sizes for different applications. I'm not looking to overpower the system, but I don't want to drain it either.
    Thanks,
    Dan :3gears:

The case number is 1100697 and they are rated 62-3 amp in stock form. You can get one from NAPA.

When it comes to alternators, you cannot overpower the system. The alternator will supply what is necessary, up to its capacity. The additional capacity is used for additional systems, including high-power stereos, lights, etc. Ray

63 amps should of come on the car when new.

As stated before, you can not over power the system by having an alternator to big.

If you do not want a 100% orginal alternator, I have the 63 amp. alternator I took off my car when I bought the one-wire unit. I took it off and had Autozone test i (that is where it came from). How about $15.00 plus shipping?
