The seller says it is a 70 Olds 12 bolt with 3.23 possi, might be a good deal if it is the same width as the 8.2 in my 70 Skylark?? My wheels are really tight back there so I need to have the same width.

Maybe I am better with a chevy style 12 bolt, maybe more parts available??

I cant really tell from the pic what it is. Need a closeup.

If it is a 12 bolt Olds, it is the "O" style. Meaning 12 bolt cover, 8.5" internals.

Its gears and posi are all its own. Not transferrable to other rears.

uses the 1.125" ujoint

It will be the same dimensions as your 8.2", with the exception that its "snout" will be a little longer - like an 8.5".

Appears to have a perfect circular cover...so it is a 12 bolt Olds axle.

Depends on the cost......what is he asking?

He is asking $1100 but I would not pay over $600... He is asking me to make an offer but I am not sure I even want it since it may need a rebuild anyway. I will find out if it has been used lately and go from there... I treat stuff as cores unless proven otherwise... Could be a wrecked rear end for all I know.

I found this info posted before about the olds 12 bolt:

I attached a pic of a olds 12 bolt, it looks like the one for sale...

5. Can someone please tell me in plain English what posi rear I can put in my1968 Riviera. I am not familiar with the various terminologies but I am goodwith the year, make and models of a car that is compatible. My first choice isnot to have any mounting headaches and bolt another 10 bolt posi rear with theability to purchase aftermarket gears. Second choice is to bolt a 12 bolt posirear end and have minor adjustments with the ability to purchase aftermarketparts.

Please Please...HELP <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Sean,
Not worth it at $400...walk away...get yourself a 71-2 Skylark/Cutlass 8.5" rear and have it built....much cheaper and more parts selection for those rears....contact Monzaz for a quote on parts.

ChicagoRiv,
You should add at least your first name to your signature line.
You can contact Jim(Monzaz) at www.jdrace.com and he can tell you what will work and what is cost effective for your application.
