Can anyone tell me what I have from these numbers? They are the only ones I can find right now, till I can get it up on a stand and cleaned up. 40H134714 from intake manifold am aassuming this would be a part number, don't know?B1231718-E Thank you
The 40H134714 looks to be the serial number. 4=Buick, 0=1970, H=Flint, 134714 should be the last 6 digits of your VIN if that is the original motor. Sorry about the intake, I don't have those numbers at my fingertips...
Not the original motor. It is a 455, I bought from a junkyard do not know what it came out of. Am trying to find out what year it is. The numbers came from between the 1 and 3 spark plugs.
70 455 :bglasses: If you look between the rear plugs, you should see a two letter code with three digits near. That will tell you the HP. :Smarty:
If it is a 455, that number should be found on the top of the bell housing, 12 o clock positition. Under the 455 number you'll find the block casting number, please post this on the board. For a 1970 455 it should read: 1231738, but for some 1971 455 engines this number was also used. Best thing is to look at the two letter engine code: If it starts with a S, it's 1970. If it starts with a T, it's 1971. 1231718 is the intake number for a 1970 455 CI engine.
Found SF 3 and what appears to be a 9. Thanks for your help. I am trying to figure out what I have and will nedd to do to rebuild it.
Thanks for the help. Now I all I need to do is get it rebuilt. Have about a million more questions on that subject.
John, That will result in at least 4 million answers on this board.... :beer Will this 455 go into the Skylark when it's finnished ? :3gears:
