The HVAC system on my 65 appears to be missing this part. What is it's function and where can I find a replacement? :Do No:

    Thanks!

Isn't that a vacuum controlled heater valve ?

Yup,a water (heater) valve. Shuts off flow of hot coolant through your heater core when A/C is operated. Not sure where you would find a factory type replacement but just about any A/C equipped vehicle uses something like it. Some are cable operated and some (like yours) are vacuum operated. Off to the boneyard if you are not too particular.

AC Delco has the part for a 66. Do you suppose it is the same part number?

Yep autozone here too, about two weeks ago. I didn't know either what it was called, and the guy in the shop guessed on EGR valve or something. Anyway he found it and it was 16.95$. The one I had was too coroded to be re-used, once off it just leaked when I put it back on.
