Regarding the power antenna, I've seen one on a four door lesabre from 71/72 can't remember, but the antenna was located on the passenger front fender. I was thinking about taking it, but the hood or fender had to come off to get it aout, and I would never want to put it on my car anyway, so it's in buick heaven by now.
The small lamps illuminate the dashboard when the headlights are turned on. They don't do a very good job though:laugh:
The 73 version of the power antenna was completely manual, like the one used up till 1969. It only raised or lowered with the dash switch. From 74 on, the antenna would retract when the ignition or radio was switched off. It was mounted on the right front fender, not far behind the inner fender, and the lower mounting bracket was attached to the inner fender with a couple of bolts. There was a nut holding it to the top of the fender too. Since the contours of the fenders didn't change, the antenna will fit 71-76 Buicks, except the Rivieras are unique. GM must have had complaints about reception with the windshield antenna, because Olds and Cadillac also started using the electric antennas about the same time.
Just a few images from the power antenna switches. First 2 are from a 73 Riviera (right now busy installing the defogger and switch so the dash had to come off; that's why you're missing some parts here) and the 3rd from a 75 Riviera. For both years you'd had to use a switch to retract the antenna.
Adam, Did your car had the Blower type defroster? I thought that all convertibles had the heated glass version. About the antennas, did all 71 and 72 Buicks had winshield integrated antennas? Jean-Luc, If you want to see if there are remains of the Max Trac option on your car, you can also look for a rear wheel speed sensor (between the transmission ans the speedometer cable). I thought this option was only available in Rivsin 71, maybe it was added to the other full-size Buicks option list late in the model year. What's the production date of your car? Rob, keep me updated on the blower installation!
Phil, I won't go to see my car for a couple of month now, so I cannot check, but here is the # of the French registration card 466671X195734 Options (as far as I believe these features were optional): Power locks/windows/seats, hole in the dash :Brow:, right mirror, Air conditionning (unplugged :rant: ), Rally wheels, trunk mouldings (not like the basic and common Adam's Centurion :grin: ), trip set, AM-FM radio ...and what else could come on top of that ?
Jean-Luc, Adam would tell you there were many more options! 4 note horn, posi axle, cruise control, rear defroster, Hi-performance 455, Firm Ride suspension, etc. Does your Centurion have the electric seatback release?
