Sounding exhaust I can install on to my stock exhaust manifolds an downpipes that attach to my 401 nailhead that is in my 66 GS? I did not know if flowmaster10 series would be bad for the motor or flowmaster 40 series would be ok for that continuous aggressive sound, thank you.

I have Flowmaster 40's, could be louder. Maybe the Super 40 or Super 44 would be better. Still sounds good though.

Ok thank you, I got a chance get sum super 10 series flow masters but I wanna make sure the back pressure on those will be alright for my 401 nailhead. Oh yea im in the market to buy another valley cover mine is shot,I don't want a billet valley cover I prefer an original, thanks.

You don't want any back pressure.

Some Magnaflows are pretty aggressive too.

I only have an glasspack on each exhaust with 2,5" pipe ( no h yet ) and I wouldn't put more on.. Don't think the nailhead produce that much sound compared to other engines..

I have 40's on my 65, sounds good and is not too loud. My only problem is a deafening drone at 45mph. I have installed a cheap carpet in the trunk for now. I am replacing all the carpets and front seats soon and i am opting for some sound deadener for the whole car to quiet the drone down. Also i bought the whole exhaust system from flowmaster and i was disappointed in their directions. They only offer basic directions and a pic of the exhaust. Now, i am going against their directions if you go this route with the whole system. They say to work from the front and go back. I found this to be wrong The mufflers are a fixed point to the frame crossmember so work from them forward, then do the tail pipes after. Also, the H-pipe is not marked for right/left or up/down and it does make a difference the way it is bent. If you stare and squint at the piss poor picture long enough you will see the overlap of the center piece for the cross pipe making the H. This overlap in the pic is the only way you will know which side is right/left or up/down. Nothing is said in the horrible directions.

I have made my own muffler for my 1964 Riv... that nails the 60's muscle car sound,,, 2 1/4 in. pipes from the engine all the way back .... you can do it... it is easier if you weld.... but if if you know some one who does, it can be done.... you just cut out the parts and get them to weld them up....
