What is the correct gas tank for a 66 Skylark?

Sorry I just didn't know where to post this.

I need to replace the Gas Tank on my 66 Skylark. It has a huge dent in the bottom from the previous owner, and the filler neck seal is splitting so gas drips out of the back.

At any rate, I'm looking up gas tanks online and I can't figure out which one I need. My car has the 300 motor, and the vent that comes up into the trunk. I was hoping to find one that already had the filler neck, but I'm confused about the application differences between a 37A and a 37J.

    37A Buick Special, Cutlass, F85, Skylark, 1964 - 1967: 1 vent w/o filler neck
37J Buick Special, Skylark, Cutlass, F85, 1964 - 1965: 1 vent and With filler neck

So here's my question - if the 37A fits '64-'67 Cutlass and Skylark, and the 37J fits '64-'65 Skylark and Cutlass, why wouldn't the 37J fit my '66 as well?

When I look at the dimensions, they are exactly the same as well with the only difference being capacity

    GM 37J
    Capacity: 21.5 Gallons/82 Liters
    Dimensions: 37-1/4 X 30 X 6-3/4 inches
With filler neck - 7-5/8 inches
    With vent pipe

    GM 37A
    Capacity: 20 Gallons/76 Liters
    Dimensions: 37-1/4 X 30 X 6-3/4 inches
    With out filler neck

The thing that's killing me is that both tanks cost me the same, but since one has the filler I don't have to have to pay the $$ to have the neck transferred.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

70 GS models have the same issue. The standard one most often needed is not sold witha filler neck. The reason is that this neck is not reproduced so you have to do a transplant. Now with a 70 you can get the very close 69 with a neck which will bolt up.

I have transplanted at least two necks and it cost about $25. You may still need to tweak the neck angle after install.

When you say "start of emissions" what do you mean? Is there a difference in the tanks from an emissions standpoint? Again, will it fit?
