The console should have these 2 rings and there are 3 pins on the inside that will have fastners. If they are broken you can JB weld small stove bolt with a nut. There is also a boot under the console that is held in place with the other ring to keep water out.

The one ring is chromed and makes it look pretty. You could just put the boot on and use a fastner on the pins and it should look fine.

Your welcome and good luck with it.

I have never seen the oblong ring you have in that pic . I have the other two for my consolette . Does this ring hold a lower boot in place ? I have been trying to wrap my head around how the consolette actually fits where the floor drops off under it and how the carpet is finished there .

    John,
The oblong ring had the 6 or 7 self tapping screws or bolts that was attached to the floor to cover the hump. Duane repro'ed them ('will never do them again'). They are nearly impossible to find. Last one I seen was from my GS that was supposed to be mailed to me. Sold for $119.

    ----'Guys,
OK, here is how the 68-72 Buick shifter boots went,

    For cars without consoles,
They came with a thick shifter boot that was attached directly to the floor pan by the ring that I am (edit-[NO LONGER]) making. This thicker shifter boot had a lip that protruded over top of the carpet, so once the carpet was installed, the boot covered up the edge and made it look finished.

    For cars with consoles,
They came with a thinner (different shaped) lower boot that was attached directly to the floor pan by the same ring that I (edit-[NO LONGER])am making. This lower boot was there to keep out the dirt, noise. etc from getting into the interior. Then the console had another round boot attached to it to finish everything off and make it look nice.

Both the non-console and console cars came with the same hump welded to the floorpan. That's why this retainer ring works for both console and non-console cars. I sure hope someone tucks this info away so I don't have to ever type it again.

Now that answers Allen's first question, as to the other, believe me all 6 are sold, and 3 more if I wanted to keep making them.

    George D,
I am not listening, I still have to finish 3 from the last batch I was working on.

There has also been a lot of talk about the 64-67 parts interchanging with the 68-72 pieces, and although they look very similar, the humps welded to the floor pan, the boots, and the retainer rings are all different.

I have checked the Assembly manuals and the break was (64-67) / (68-72), so everyone could save some money by not trying to make the earlier pieces fit the later cars.

I know, Duane, it was worth a mention..:TU: :TU: .. Believe me, your last post on that thread came across LOUD and CLEAR. Even though the contour is wrong on the Chevelle rings, any idea if the width is correct?

    Ya know,
If you guys were smart, you would lay some fiberglass layers over your original existing humps, then pop the part off, trim it to fit, drill the holes you need and install the damn things.:spank: At least you would be guaranteed that it would fit.

The original 68-72 part is a complex curved 3-dimensional piece, with a curved cross-section, with 7 holes that are not evenly spaced. There is nothing out there currently reproduced, from any other car that will remotely work. But feel free to spend your money how you see fit.
I am done talking about this.

Duane thanks for your input . I will probably do just as you described unless someone is sitting on an extra ring you made them and wants to sell. If not I will attempt to make it myself without the tools you have which may be dificult ( especially without the hump) I am still looking for it and now this lower ring thing ! Sorry if this keeps coming back around to you but some of us aren't as savvy as you on these things .
