I'm picking up a used set of headers and want to dress them up? What do you like from DIY to what ever. I do have a budget. LOL
VHT is likley your best option for low budget. Test fit. Make sure you get all the rust off if any, and use a good degreaser (Prep-All) or Simple Green/Purple Power, then spray on a light coat, wait 15-20 minutes, and start laying thin coats every 15-20 minutes and finish with a wet coat. I have VHT on my nailhead exhaust manifolds (VHT cast iron color), and they are holding up exceptionally well for several years.
I used Eastwood Internal Exhaust coating on the interior AND exterior of my headers and it looks amazing and seams to be holding up really well. It cures with the heat of the exhaust gasses so you need to be extra careful on the install. Cliff
Look around locally Dave, most powder coaters also do the ceramic header coatings. I know I can have them done here for a very reasonable cost, plus no shipping.. JW
Budget, I hear yah! If the headers your speaking of are the ones from me I used Seymour high temp “cast blast” on ‘em years ago. My TA super comps I used high temp rustoleum. The BIGGEST issue with ANY coating or spray can paint on headers is adhesion, sand blast, or hand scuff REAL good, degrease, clean. It’s time consuming for sure
If I can get your headers to fit my application I will look to coat them in some manor, thanks for selling them at a good cost
