I have read on the BuickGSCA site there is apparently some changes that will be made regarding rule revisions that affect you guys as well as us turbo crybabies  .Doesnt really look like a step forward to me. I am not sure what prompted all this????? Does anyone know?
Well, the GS Nats is no more. Lassater has sold the race and the event and it is now renamed. It is called something like the Buick Nationals or something. My guess is the new owner (I think it might be Bennett) has designs of his own. I don't know why the changes are made or what they are, but I DO know that the event is no longer owned by the GSCA.
It is my understanding that Lassister still has the final say over everything. I don't believe what was supposed to happen, is going to happen. That's what I gathered from the post that was made on turbobuick.com. Of course I could be wrong...that's happened once
Huh, why would someone sell the event? I don't want to speculate but is personal profit a factor here? I would be a tad offended if someone sold my good time for a profit. Cause there is no event unless people show up. Now if the event being sold puts all the profits into the club. Good idea. Cause really without us, there is no event. We should get paid just for showing up.
The post on the GSCA board says Lassiter is the only one who can over ride a decision by the RRA's. If he no longer owns the event, why would he have the final say on rules?
That doesn't apply really. Movies are only shown at certain places at certain times. We could hold a car event anywhere we want. You can't watch a movie in the Kmart parking lot across the street from a different track. But you can have an event there. We can hold our own GS Nats anywhere in the world at any time. The people really own the event. If no one comes, there is no event. You lead to as if we are held over a barrel with no options but to give in. We all have a choice not to go to the sold off Nats and hold our own event the same day. Sold off GS Nats attendance 30 V8Buick GS Nats 20,000+ We hold all the cards. No attendance, no event.
Hot Damn Tamale Elvis, we're itchin to get on the road and spend a few days with the best damn bunch of Buick Brother's & sisters known to mankind :bglasses: The Chicagoland caravan rolls out Thursday morning so we'll see y'all in the parking lots that night :beer D & B :3gears: :3gears:
I have some frequent flyer miles stacking up. Anybody (preferably a single, good looking female  ) willing to sneak me into their hotel room if I make a last-minute trip there?
What a coincidence......I just happen to have that week off. After reading all the posts about all the fun that's planned I think I'll call and make a hotel reservation right now. Where is all the action at night......'cause I want to meet all you guys and gals and party. Although I'm a newbe, I think I'll feel right at home. Looking foward to SALEM !!! CLEVER ONE
Just follow the black stripes on the road and the clouds of smoke. You'll at least find Johnno and the rest of us will be watching.
Did anyone get any real info on what happened? I had a good example come to mind. The first Woodstock was a great event. But Woodstock 99 was a disaster. One was a good example of how an event can be a monster hit when its just about the fun and good times. One was a good example of how you can ruin an event when people try to make mega bucks off an event people only go to for the fun and good times. How you do both at once has to be really really hard. With very fine lines.
Buick Muscle Car Nationals It's going to be called the Buick Muscle Car Nationals, and any other 'stories' you hear, are probably 'stories'. So wait and see what happens next! Cause there's nothing but rumors out there at the moment.
