I have a 72 skylark with a 350-4. What plugs should I use? Also, a friend of mine using my car put 91 octane in the thing and the car idles like crap now... .while it possibly could just be a batch of bad gas... I was thinking I might try for a slightly hotter than stock plug.

    Any suggestions??

Oh, its the original points distributor.

Hi Kevin - The 72 350 only had 8.5:1 compression...so 91 octane shouldn't have caused trouble - unless like you said, you got some of that watered down stuff!

What state of tune is the car in?? Any pinging?

You might want to check into something like the Pertronix unit - to eliminate the points!! Check out the Vendors section towards the bottom of the board. BuickAl had a post in there about selling the Pertronix stuff.

    Thanks Scott,

Im not sure what Im going to do with this car, whether to keep it or not, so Im not so much into putting money into her... other than just keeping up the maintenence. THe carb Im pretty sure needs to be gone through and I want to take a stab at the plugs.... im just not sure that whats in there is supposed to be whats in there.... know what i mean?

    Anyone?

    Kevin,
Stock plug for that car would be an AC R45 TS. They usually work very well in a stock motor. Champion recommends the RV 17 YC, which is a projected nose plug. That is the plug I use in my 70 Stage1. I find it resists fouling alot better than the AC's. Supposedly a projected core will run hotter at idle and cooler at speed, it has a wider heat range. These plugs work great for me, give them a shot. Just my 2 cents.
